Background Information
The farm stock consists of a herd of dairy goats, Dexter and Highland
Cattle, a flock of approx 30 breeding ewes, 4 breeding sows and over 40
horses and ponies used in the Riding School, many of these are British
Native Breeds including our Suffolk Punch.
The animals are kept in in 70 acres of grassland, split into paddocks
of varying sizes, many of which are planted with hedges and bordered by
ditches. The farm is part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme and an
active participant of LEAF and the annual Open Farm event.
Staffing
The staff at Monach Farm have a wealth of knowledge and experience working
with and meeting the needs of a wide range of groups and individuals.
This includes working with people with physical and learning disabilities
and children who have been excluded from school. The teaching staff all
hold Cert Ed and City and Guilds qualifications as well as vocational
qualifications .

Pre-School and Nursery Visits
Children can walk around the farm trail meeting the animals along the
way and observing wildlife. Our friendly animals offer a unique experience
to learn about farm animals and the countryside and to have a “hands
on” experience. Sessions can be tailored to your curriculum requirements
as a one off session or a number of consecutive visits.
Schools
A visit to Monach Farm can be an enhancement to all key stages of the
National Curriculum. Our qualified staff can create workbooks and visits
to suit your requirements. All ages and abilities catered for from foundation
to KS4.The farm has resources suitable for Citizenship KS 1&2, animals
& us, Art & design KS3, landscapes and science KS1 & 2 Growing
plants and many others.
Voluntary Organisations and Youth Groups
Come along for a visit to the farm and pass your achievement badges for
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. We can provide the
teaching and knowledge necessary to pass countryside and animal care badges.
For any youth group with an interest in the countryside and farming, nature
trails can be organised or simply a visit to a working farm
